What a School Mate Buddy Is
Learn in a Flash not only allows, but suggests to 14 and 15 year old students to share the room / School House with a school friend as a buddy for their first experience. We also suggest repeating it once over 16 years of age, with our work experience full immersion programme with no co-nationals.
The cost for two students is really appreciable, as the cost of lessons and afternoon activities is shared with one's school mate buddy. More dedicated time — 10 or 15 hours of conversation time Monday to Friday — may be taken individually or sharing with your School House Mates, and the cost is shared among the students (when 2 or more). It is normally expected for 14 and 15 year old students in groups.
The No Co-Nationals Policy
School Houses will not accept two students of the same nationality, unless you expressly request or allow it. It is our policy to guarantee avoiding the use of one's own language. We guarantee no other co-national in the same School House.
Room Configurations
Checking availability on the School House page, twin rooms may be shared with a foreign student (same gender and similar age). Sharing with a foreign student may be a great option for Student Guests, the price doesn't change, and we recommend this for a better experience.
Going individually remains feasible for those who are most mature, taking full advantage of our organisation with one-to-one lessons and activities and no co-nationals. In that case we require a one-to-one meeting with our staff to check with the student and his or her parents if it is an appropriate solution for them.
Interaction with the Workplace Rule
Requests for sharing a School House and lessons are accepted, but they are denied for any work/volunteering experience. Two students may therefore share a School House on request, but there will be no other students of the same nationality or speaking the same language with the same Work Tutor.
Practical Effect on the Student's Day
A student on a School House stay with a School Mate typically shares:
- Full board at the table with the family and eventually a foreign student.
- The first Sunday, when the host family will do something with the student.
- The 30' of conversation time with the host, Monday to Friday.
- Afternoon CLIL activities, where taken — the cost is shared among the students (when 2 or more).
