About Us
International experiences with the locals — live, learn and work in real families and workplaces. Learn in a Flash is represented by various brands within an international specialized network, including: Work-Related-Learning.com and Learn-in-a-Flash.com.
Together, we design and manage individual, full-immersion international experiences for high school students, young adults and adult learners who want to: live with local host families (“School Houses”), learn the language naturally, often in a “live with your teacher” environment, take part in daily life with locals, activities and cultural programmes, and, where appropriate, join curriculum-linked unpaid work experiences (curricular traineeships) or volunteering.
We do not organise standard college stays or large international group programmes. Our experiences are personalised, hosted by local families and workplaces, and designed to maximise real-life language exposure and cultural immersion.

Our Mission
To create meaningful international experiences with the locals, where students: live in real homes, not in colleges, are not placed with same-language peers (unless explicitly requested), follow an individual learning plan, and combine daily life, language practice, activities and — if suitable — hands-on work experience.
Our goal is to offer an alternative to traditional study holidays, focusing on: individual experiences (even when students depart in a group), real families and real workplaces, educational value, not mass tourism.
Who We Are
We are a team of educators, programme designers and placement coordinators with a long family tradition in language teaching and international mobility. One strand of our network — the team behind Learn-in-a-Flash.com — comes from three generations of teachers and more than 20 years of experience designing: study-and-stay programmes, live-with-your-teacher experiences, homeschooling-style immersion stays, personalised youth and adult language programmes, and curriculum-linked international traineeships.
This educational background shapes how we design every experience: not as a “package holiday”, but as a structured learning journey built around real people, real homes and real workplaces.
What Makes Our Model Different
1. School Houses: live with your teacher & their family
Our “School Houses” are carefully selected host families, often: qualified teachers, school staff, experienced host families trained to our standards. They provide: full board accommodation with special dietary options, daily language practice and conversation time, activities with the family and in the local community, support in joining sports centres, clubs and local initiatives, and, in some cases, structured lessons or homeschooling-style learning. This is the core of our offer: living and learning with locals, in a real family environment.
2. Individual immersion — not large international groups
Our experiences are: individual, even when students travel as part of a school group or open group, not shared with large international groups, not shared with same-language peers (guaranteed, unless expressly requested). This guarantees maximum exposure to the local language and culture, every day.
3. Work experience as an option — free of charge
For students aged 16+ (or according to local rules), we also organise: unpaid work experiences / curricular traineeships, volunteering in not-for-profit organisations, hands-on placements in real workplaces. These placements are: educational, not exploitative, designed with learning objectives, supervised by a Work Tutor, aligned with the student’s school or training programme. Work experience is one possible component of the overall immersion experience — not the only focus.
4. Fully organised individually personalised plan — even when departing in a group
Full immersion guaranteed: no same-language peers at home, during activities, trips, lessons or at work (apart from flights and airport transfers with the accompanying teacher, or when choosing to share with a travel buddy). Each student follows a fully personalised plan: chooses their own School House (live with your teacher host family), follows their own daily structure of lessons and activities, has his or her own work experience or volunteering placement (if eligible), and personalised routines and dietary needs. No college canteens, no group classrooms, no mass tourism: students live daily life with locals, inside their host family and community. This is how we ensure true individual immersion, even when students depart together.
Our Track Record
Over two decades, our network has supported: hundreds of individual immersion stays, long-term host families and School Houses, curriculum-linked traineeships and volunteering experiences, partnerships with schools, training centres and local organisations. We specialise in: personalised learning plans, realistic learning objectives, meaningful tasks and reflection, measurable outcomes for schools and families.
Reliability, Safeguarding & Compliance
We take compliance and safeguarding seriously. Across our network we: verify host families and workplaces before listing, collect required documentation (insurance, registration, safeguarding where applicable), ensure placements have clear supervision and educational purpose, support schools with learning agreements and reporting, provide guidance on legal frameworks for curricular traineeships and unpaid work experience. Our role is to reduce the administrative burden for hosts and schools, while protecting students and families.
How We Work with Hosts and Partners
For School Houses (host families): Apply to become a School House; get onboarded and trained to our standards; define what you offer (accommodation, conversation time, activities, lessons); host students individually, not in large groups.
For workplaces / organisations: Register as a Work Tutor; define meaningful tasks and supervision; host motivated students for educational traineeships; receive support with onboarding and feedback.
For schools and teachers: Co-design individual immersion programmes for your students; combine family stay, activities and work experience; receive support with documentation and reporting.
The Problem
Finding a quality service in which to practice the language, perhaps with individual lessons, a work experience in a local activity to go along with it or doing sports or cultural tourism with the locals, with pleasant accommodation and meals, through an informed choice, without meeting co-nationals — something which could qualitative problems encountered in colleges, for youngsters and adults.
The Solution
An innovative service that allows participants to have a unique experience: being able to be surrounded by natives, at home, in their conversation sessions, at work and in all activities, with the consequent linguistic and cultural improvement, without meeting a co-national during one’s entire stay, even in group departures.
Assisted and Insured
Insurance against injuries and damage to third parties for all work experiences and volunteering, additional coverage for students of the three-year period. National health insurance coverage for EU and UK Student Guests (not in the USA).
Constant remote and on-site assistance, in addition to the guarantee provided by host families who, by law, act as “in loco parentis” (parental responsibility) for minors.
On workplace insurance: the Association of British Insurers has stated that “the insurance industry has agreed that students on work experience placements should be treated as employees for the purposes of insurance”, and that “an employer, or voluntary sector organisation, that has Employers’ Liability Compulsory Insurance cover already, does not need to buy additional cover.” As suggested by the Health and Safety Executive, no further sensitive data is requested; organisations communicate to their insurance company that they are taking on a student when the stay is three weeks or more, with no extra premium payable, per the ABI. Students come over on Curricular Traineeships availed by Headmaster, School Tutor, Students, Parents and the hosting organisation’s Work Tutor.
In the EU and the UK, a citizen’s national health insurance provides cover, unlike in the USA; EU citizens should carry a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC).
Our School Houses
Students stay with a School House: a host family providing full board accommodation and quality services, chosen by the student independently, with our assistance.

Our History
Learn in a Flash Ltd was incorporated at Companies House on 3 October 2018 (company number 11601088).
