GROUP COLLECTIVE PASSPORT

As agreed between the signatory parties to the European Agreement on Travel by Young Persons on Collective Passports between the Member Countries of the Council of Europe (ETS No. 037), where you can view the full list of signatures and ratifications.

Here you may see that collective (group) passports can be used in these countries, some with specific reservations and declarations. Briefly summarised here:

1) students must carry an official photo identity document with them;

2) if not everyone has the same nationality, a copy of the collective (group) passport must be made available.

HOW TO APPLY FOR A GROUP COLLECTIVE PASSPORT

- in the United Kingdom (to show the reciprocity of the treaty)

- in Italy - from 5 to 50 students together with an accompanying person over 21 holding an individual passport - we provide the necessary documentation

ACCEPTED TRAVEL DOCUMENTS

As can be found on their official website, collective group passports are correctly accepted, among the other legally valid documents, by RYANAIR ©

and by Swissport © (boarding management). On 2 May 2023 at East Midlands airport, the staff stated that they simply follow the policy and directives of the airline Ryanair © .

LATEST UPDATE ON THE ACCEPTANCE OF ORDINARY IDENTITY CARDS IN THE UNITED KINGDOM

As discussed in Parliament in February 2022 (after the conclusion of the "Brexit" process), the identity card is still not taken into consideration.

Nevertheless, for groups, the collective passport, which lowers significantly these burdens, was reminded as being a valid option, for example for students in a group. In short, in the discussion, it was assumed that obtaining a passport elsewhere (Italy) involves reduced costs and bureaucracy (even for minors), as in the United Kingdom. Unfortunately, in Italy we know it to be difficult and expensive, and this collective passport regulation was in fact designed for students who need it only for a simple experience of a few days in the participating countries.
