What changed for mobile roaming in the UK in 2025, and the options to stay connected during your stay.

No more “roaming like at home”

In 2025 there is no more “roaming like at home” in the UK for EU SIM operators.

For example, calling from the Italian operator Wind/Three, calls will be charged 35 cents per minute.

Free Wi-Fi

You may still use Wi-Fi for free in most parts of town, on buses, and in all our School Houses (the service is not guaranteed), so you may call for free using apps like WhatsApp, Telegram and Skype.

A British SIM card

If you wish to use your phone in freedom, call Italy, and be called by your host family on a “standard” call, or to be always online through a data network connection, we suggest using a British SIM card (it can be used with a pay-as-you-go plan, to get calls, or with other plans as you wish).
